Stumphauzer Foslid Sloman Ross & Kolaya, PLLC, a Florida professional limited liability company (“SFS”, “we,” or “us”) respects your right to privacy. This Privacy Notice applies to the website and online services SFS offers through the domain sfslaw.com, including any mobile application or version of the site (collectively, the “Site“), and explains how SFS may collect, share, use and process information about you, and how you can exercise your privacy rights.

By using the Site, you, the user, agree to the terms of this Privacy Notice.  If you do not agree with this Privacy Notice, you cannot use, and must discontinue, any use of the Site.

1. Changes to this Privacy Notice

SFS reserves the right to change this Privacy Notice at any time whereby relevant changes take effect for the future. The applicable version of this Privacy Notice is available on the Site.  Please check this Privacy Notice regularly, and before you submit additional personal information via the Site.

A user’s continued use of the Site after any modification to the Privacy Notice will constitute the user’s acceptance of the new terms. IF THE USER DOES NOT AGREE TO FUTURE CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY, THE USER MUST STOP USING THE SITE AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF SUCH CHANGES.

2. Collection of Personal Information

Users may browse the portions of the Site that do not require entry of log-in credentials without registration, and without actively entering personally identifying information. However, certain information may be provided automatically by the user’s web browser or application when entering or utilizing the Site, including, as examples: IP addresses; other device identifiers; browser types; operating systems; access dates and times; and referring and exiting URLs.

Certain areas and services on the Site may ask users to provide personal information, including by completing forms on various webpages.  This may include providing personal information in order to register for SFS’s newsletter and client alerts, or to register for events (e.g., a user’s name, organization, phone number, email address).  SFS will use this personal information for the purpose for which it was provided, as well as other purposes for which the user provides consent.

Users who register with the Site may be informed about our newsletter, client alerts, events, or other materials or activities. Users may opt out of receiving such direct marketing communications by sending requests to admin@sfslaw.com.

3. How and Why We Use Your Information

We use personal information we collect through our Site in the following circumstances:

  • To contact you and to respond to your inquiries and your requests;
  • To troubleshoot items associated with the Site;
  • To send you legal updates and mailings, in accordance with applicable law;
  • To keep a record of your contact information and correspondence and to use this information in corresponding with you;
  • To perform an action you have requested (such as to register for an event);
  • To enhance or improve the Site, or for security purposes; or
  • To operate our business.

 

We will retain your personal information and other information for the period reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice unless a longer retention period is required by ethical obligations or allowed by law or a contractual arrangement with you.

4. Do Not Track Requests

SFS does not currently respond or otherwise take any action with regard to “Do Not Track” requests.

5. Information Sharing and Disclosure

SFS does not sell, exchange, transfer, or give your personal information to any other company or individual for any reason except as set forth in this Privacy Notice and as described below:

Our Service Providers. We share information with our service providers, suppliers, subcontractors, and similar third parties who provide services to us, or act on our behalf so that they can assist us with the maintenance of our Service. Our contracts with these service providers prohibit them from sharing your personal information with others for other purposes than as directed by us.

Corporate Reorganization. We may transfer information to a third party in case of the reorganization, sale, merger, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, asset or stocks, including in the event of corporate restructuring. We reserve the right, as part of this transaction, to transfer or assign personal information we have collected from you to these third parties. Except as otherwise provided by a bankruptcy or other court, the use and disclosure of all personal information will be subject to policies that are consistent with the policies described in this Privacy Notice. However, any personal information that is submitted or collected after that transfer may be subject to a new privacy policy adopted by the successor entity.

Legal Concerns or Liabilities. In certain limited circumstances, and in compliance with applicable laws, SFS may share personal information with government authorities or others as required to protect the interests of Gibson Dunn or certain third parties; or as otherwise required for compliance with applicable law or legal process.

6. Security Procedures

SFS maintains appropriate technical and organizational security procedures in order to keep your personal information confidential, and protect users’ personal information against the loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure or alteration, in accordance with applicable data protection and privacy laws. However, SFS cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information that users transmit to the Site.

In addition to such measures, SFS maintains confidentiality policies that govern all information that any attorney or other personnel of SFS receives in the course of his or her employment or association with SFS.  All attorneys and personnel are made aware of these policies and SFS has in place procedures to train all attorneys and personnel in the implementation of these policies.

7. Third Party Links

The Site may contain hyperlinks to websites of third parties. If users decide to follow such links, they must be aware that SFS does not take any responsibility for the third-party content or compliance of the third-party website with data privacy laws. This Privacy Notice does not apply to such third-party content or sites. Users are encouraged to make themselves aware of applicable privacy laws and policies before they submit personal information to third party websites.

8. Children’s Privacy

SFS does not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from children under the age of 16. If SFS is made aware that is has collected personal information from a child under 16 years old in a manner that is inconsistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, SFS will delete this information as soon as possible.
